Pet Diagnostics in Coram, NY

When your pet is sick or injured, waiting days for test results isn’t an option. At Island Veterinary Hospital, our in-house diagnostic capabilities allow us to run bloodwork, imaging, and other critical tests on-site — so we can get to answers faster and start treatment sooner.

Revealing What Eyes Can’t See

A physical exam provides a lot of information, but the full picture of your pet’s health often requires a closer look. Our in-house laboratory and advanced imaging equipment give us the tools to investigate what’s happening beneath the surface without the delays of sending samples to an outside lab.

Our laboratory handles a comprehensive range of blood and diagnostic testing, including complete blood counts, general chemistries, liver and pancreatic panels, renal profiles, urinalysis, blood gases, and specific disease testing such as FeLV and FIV in cats and parvovirus in dogs. Pre-anesthetic bloodwork is also performed in-house before surgical procedures, giving us a clear baseline before your pet goes under anesthesia.

For imaging, we utilize digital radiography and ultrasound. X-rays allow us to identify skeletal fractures, soft tissue abnormalities, foreign bodies, and dental disease. Ultrasound provides real-time visualization of internal structures and organs, helping us assess the circulatory, gastrointestinal, and other systems with a level of detail X-rays alone can’t provide. Used together, these tools give us a thorough, multi-dimensional view of your pet’s health.

When testing beyond our in-house capabilities is needed, we’ll send samples to a trusted external laboratory and follow up with you as soon as the results are available.
